KUALA LUMPUR (April 23): APFT Bhd’s independent and non-executive chairman Datuk Md Ismail Hamdan has resigned from his post, along with two other directors, amid a longstanding boardroom tussle.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the loss-making flight training operator said that the resignation of the recently-appointed chairman was “due to personal reasons”.

Independent non-executive directors Laxmi Devi Murugan and Logonathan Vadivelu also resigned effective today, again citing personal reasons.

Md Ismail was appointed to his post just three months ago on Jan 23, while Laxmi and Logonathan came on board a few days earlier on Jan 18.

On March 11, four APFT shareholders holding a collective 11.26% stake in the company called for an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) to remove all three directors.

It was the third EGM requisition by the company's shareholders to remove directors of the company.

Shares in APFT closed up 0.5 sen or 33.33% today at 2 sen, giving the group an RM26.85 million market value.
