KUALA LUMPUR (March 26): Port Dickson MP Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reiterated his support for Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his government today, following a remark by Permatang Pauh MP, and his daughter, Nurul Izzah Anwar to a Singaporean daily that she was dissatisfied with Pakatan Harapan's governance.

Responding to reporters' questions at the parliament lobby today, Anwar said leaders of Pakatan Harapan have unanimously supported Dr Mahathir's efforts to fix the country.

However, he stressed that this does not mean that there will be no differences of opinion.

"Our stand, including me and my family, is to provide space and support to Tun Mahathir as the leader and prime minister," he said.

Anwar also defended Nurul Izzah, saying he understands the context of her comments and that The Straits Times may have exaggerated her remarks.

"It was just a reminder that all parties (in Pakatan Harapan) need to understand and agree and abide by the agreement and understanding between us," he said.

On Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali's comments on Twitter, hinting that Nurul Izzah was a 'cry baby', Anwar said Azmin needs to 'cool down' and focus on central issues.

"There are people who want to protect principles and ideals, (and then) there are people who are just set to defend their position at all cost. So you must take this into consideration," Anwar said.

Last Friday, Singapore's The Straits Times published an interview with Nurul Izzah where she mentioned that she was "broken-hearted" having to once again work with Dr Mahathir, referring him as a 'former dictator'.

She added that she would be serving her final term as an MP due to her disappointment with the current performance of the Pakatan Harapan government.
