KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is the latest to be investigated for sedition over a speech he gave at a ceramah three years ago.

Lawyer Latheefa Koya, who is also PKR’s legal adviser, said the speech was delivered in Gombak, Selangor.

Ampang police are expected to question Anwar at the PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya at 3pm on Friday. Anwar will be accompanied by lawyer N Surendran, who is also PKR’s Padang Serai MP.

The ceramah Anwar had spoken at was held on March 25, 2011, which saw PKR supporters turn unruly when police tried to break up the session as the PKR de facto leader was speaking. The ceramah was held to launch a PKR campaign called “DNA campaign” which stood for “Datuk Najib Altantuya” in reference to the dead Mongolian translator, who allegedly had been involved with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and supposedly had a role in the Malaysian government’s purchase of Scorpene submarines from France.

Latheefa said police now wanted to reopen investigations into that ceramah by including Anwar since he spoken at the event. — The Malaysian Insider
