KUALA LUMPUR (July 21): Following a sunset review initiated in January,  Malaysia will continue imposing the same rate for anti-dumping duties on imports of prepainted, painted or colour coated steel coils originating or exported from China and Vietnam.

The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), in a statement today, said the duty imposed on all producers and exporters from China is 52.1%.

As for Vietnam, the duty imposed is 12.06% for Maruichi Sun Steel Joint Stock Co, 34.85% for NS Bluescope Vietnam Ltd, and 34.85% for other producers/exporters, while Nam Kim Steel Joint Stock Co is not eligible for any anti-dumping duties.

The Royal Malaysian Customs Department will enforce the collection of the anti-dumping duties for a period of five years, effective July 20, said MITI.

On Jan 22, 2021, MITI initiated an administrative review (sunset review) concerning the anti-dumping duties imposed based on a petition filed by CSC Steel Sdn Bhd, on behalf of the domestic industry.

The review was carried out to determine whether the continued imposition of the anti-dumping duties is necessary to offset dumping and whether the injury would be likely to continue to recur if the duties were removed or varied, the ministry explained.

MITI added that interested parties can have access to the non-confidential version of the public by submitting a written request to its office.
