KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 5): Amazon Global Selling (AGS) is aiming to propel Malaysian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in making their mark internationally.

As part of this plan, it is holding its inaugural Amazon Southeast Asia Online Seller Summit 2021 themed "Go Global, Sell on Amazon", aimed at supporting SMEs in accelerating their digital transformation journey and build a global business, on Feb 4 and 5, 2021 (yesterday and today).

In a statement today, AGS said this support builds on its current initiatives, such as the online seller education series, Seller University, and over 250 new tools and services to help sellers grow their sales in Amazon’s stores worldwide.

AGS Southeast Asia head Bernard Tay said through this virtual seller summit, the firm hopes to support Malaysian sellers to tap into their potential and promote the future of Malaysian products via Amazon’s online stores.

“Amazon’s innovative tools, services and robust network worldwide will empower local SMEs to overcome operational barriers, embrace cross-border e-commerce opportunities and expand their global footprint,” he added.

Amazon noted that the pandemic had shifted people’s shopping behaviour from offline to online, which creates the urgency for businesses to transform to digital.

“As the transformation continues, now it is ideal time for Malaysian sellers to go online to set up a global business presence.

“Through selling on Amazon's online stores, worldwide sellers can reach 300 million+ active customer accounts directly, including 150 million+ Prime customers in Amazon's online stores globally,” said AGS.
