KUALA LUMPUR (June 2): AirAsia X Bhd had last month added two new Airbus A330-300 aircraft into its fleet. The new aircraft expanded the budget airline's
fleet at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 to 31 entities.

In a statement today, AirAsia X said Airbus delivered both aircraft with the registration numbers 9M-XBA and 9M-XBB from its facility in Toulouse, France to klia2 on May 14 and May 28 respectively.

AirAsia X said: "These brand new aircraft will begin operating commercial flights for the airline almost immediately."

"The AirAsia X group operates a 100% Airbus A330-300 fleet, with an average fleet age of less than five years," AirAsia X said.

AirAsia X chief executive officer Benyamin Ismail said in the statement that the two aircraft offered the airline the right capacity to increase flight frequency and improve connectivity.

“These aircraft are the final two we will receive until our next delivery of the Airbus A330-900neo in 2018," Benyamin said.

At 12:30pm, AirAsia X shares rose one sen or 2.7% to settle at 38.5 sen, for a market value of RM1.6 billion. The stock saw some 13 million shares traded.
