KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 9): AirAsia Bhd’s “Think Asean, Think AirAsia” campaign won it the best Asean marketing campaign at the Asean Tourism Association (ASEANTA) Awards for Excellence.
 
In a statement today, the low cost carrier said its campaign was named as the best Asean marketing and promotional campaign at the 30th ASEANTA Awards for Excellence held in Jakarta yesterday, and was presented by Indonesian Tourism Minister Arief Yahya. AirAsia Group chief executive officer for Indonesia, Dendy Kurniawan, accepted the award on behalf of the group.
 
The campaign featured a photo look book and dedicated posts of must-see places in Asean on social media and Travel 3sixty digital platform, highlighting AirAsia’s Asean-inspired inflight menu and a YouTube video series on things to do and food to eat in all the Asean countries, supported by promotional fares from as low as RM10 to all Asean countries.
 
The campaign was run from Aug 8 to Aug 14 last year.
 
The annual ASEANTA Awards for Excellence recognise Asean individuals or organisations that have contributed to the development and promotion of Asean tourism products.
 
A total of six categories were contested, which also included Best Asean Travel Article, Best Asean Tourism Photo, Best Asean New Tourism Attraction, Best Asean Airline Programme and Best Asean Cultural Preservation Effort.
 
As of 11.38am, AirAsia edged higher by 0.30% to RM3.30. with 1.0 million shares exchanging hands.
