KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 23): AirAsia Group Bhd has postponed the release of its financial results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2021 (2QFY21) by a month from Aug 31 to Sept 30, noting that the various travel restrictions implemented under the Full Movement Control Order (FMCO) have significantly impacted the preparation of the low-cost carrier's 2QFY21 results.

In a bourse filing today, AirAsia said it will endeavour to make the necessary issuance as soon as possible and continue to comply with the continuing disclosure obligations under the Main Market Listing Requirements, including making immediate announcements of any material information to ensure that shareholders and investors continue to receive material information in a timely manner.

Due to the steep increase of Covid-19 cases and the implementation of the FMCO, Bursa Securities has granted a one-month extension of time to listed issuers for the issuance of quarterly reports and annual reports, which are due by July 31 and Aug 31 respectively.

AirAsia saw its net loss narrow to RM767.42 million for 1QFY21, from RM803.85 million a year earlier, while quarterly revenue fell to RM298.22 million from RM2.31 billion in 1QFY20, as travel demand was curbed by the travel restrictions imposed by the government in January.

AirAsia shares closed up four sen or 4.85% at 86 sen today, bringing a market capitalisation of RM3.35 billion.
