KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 31): AirAsia Group founder cum chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes urged Asean to ease tourism policy after series of isolationist policies announced in the western world.

In his Twitter posts today, Fernandes also called for implementation of multi countries electronic Visa among Asean countries.

"With the world now getting more isolationist, it's time for Asean to start making it easier for tourists to come. Need an electronic Asean Visa," he said in one of the posts.

Fernandes' posts came after his meeting with Thailand Minister of Tourism and Sports Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul.

"Super day in Thailand with Kobkarn. [The] Minister of Tourism understands cost and also Asean. Really feel Asean dream is not far away," Fernandes said.

The 52-year-old entrepreneur's twitter posts came after rising objections against the US's newly-appointed President Donald Trump's travel ban on citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries.

In the local stock market, AirAsia was one of the top trading counter again, ranking 6th as at 10:45am, with 9.34 million shares traded so far, its share price rose seven sen or 2.82% to RM2.55.
