KUALA LUMPUR (April 10): Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, AirAsia Bhd's group chief executive officer, wants the government to relook into the country's visa system as it will make it easier for people to visit Malaysia.

"I really appeal to the government that this is a great opportunity now to look at the whole visa system," said Tony after the launch of Tune Labs today.

He added that the government should consider making many countries visa free, release visas on arrival and that travelers should be able to make their own visas online.

"Obviously with all the problems we've got in the aviation industry, we've got to make it easier (for people to travel).

"Indonesia made a big step forward by removing visas for 30 countries. Malaysia will lose its competitiveness," he said.

Tony also added that a one ASEAN visa should also be considered as Malaysia is currently the head of ASEAN 2015.
