KUALA LUMPUR (May 30): AirAsia Group Bhd group chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes has hit out at reports that a case had been filed against him by India's federal police force relating to the granting of a flying licence in India.

He tweeted today: "Sometimes wonder about certain media who just wrote anything without checking any facts. Seriously wild stuff which are just plain wrong and inaccurate."

Reports quoted Indian police as saying on Tuesday they have filed a case against the airline, Fernandes and its domestic entity AirAsia India Ltd, over allegations of corruption and breaking rules in obtaining a flying licence.

In a statement today, AirAsia India refuted India's Central Bureau of Investigation's accusation against Fernandes over the alleged violation of rules in seeking international flying permits.

"AAIL (AirAsia India) refutes any wrong-doing and is cooperating with all regulators and agencies to present the correct facts. We hope to bring early resolution to all such issues," its director Shuva Mandal said.

At 2.58pm, AirAsia shares were down 22 sen or 6.65% at RM3.09, with 24.36 million shares done, while AirAsia X Bhd's share price was one sen or 2.67% lower at 36.5 sen, with 21.12 million shares traded.
