KUALA LUMPUR (March 10): AirAsia Bhd, Asia's largest low-cost carrier, bagged the Best Payment Strategy Award at the 2016 Corporate Treasurer Awards gala dinner held in Singapore yesterday.
 
The award programme recognises Asia’s best treasury and finance strategies across the entire treasury industry.

Under the best treasury and finance strategies in Asia-Pacific category, AirAsia demonstrated its convenient payment operation that provides flexibility for travellers flying with the airline.
 
In a statement today, AirAsia group treasurer Rozainol Bahari said the airline focuses on personalisation as one of its key drivers and in line with this, it has implemented a structure that offers a host of localised options to ease guests hailing from various countries.

"We are happy to receive this accolade, as it shows that we’re on the right track and we will continue to innovate our services to bring greater convenience to passengers across borders,” he added.
 
Through a unique payment system, AirAsia said travellers in any part of the world are able to choose not only their preferred language, but their preferred medium of exchange and mode of payment, as well on the website.

"This flexibility ensures that guests will have certainty on their total amount of transactions made according to their local currency, which spans from U.S. dollar, sterling, euro, Australian dollar, Japanese yen, Singapore dollar, renminbi and ringgit," it said.
