KUALA LUMPUR (April 10): Hulu Selangor has been categorised as a red zone after the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases went up by nine yesterday to 43 cases in the health district. 

This means that the red zones have expanded further in the Klang Valley, where there are now 11 health districts with more than 40 confirmed Covid-19 positive cases.  

Currently, there are 25 red zones nationwide. Ten districts have been categorised as red zones in the past nine days since March 31.

According to the Ministry of Health's (MoH) latest statistics, Lembah Pantai continues to be the area with the highest confirmed infections in Peninsular Malaysia at 424 cases, followed by Hulu Langat (366) and Petaling (314). The three red zones with more than 300 cases are in the Klang Valley, where nearly 43% of the infections are here. 

The red zones with more than 100 cases in the Klang Valley are Klang (152), Gombak (121), Kepong (110) and Titiwangsa (101).

The other red zones with more than 100 confirmed cases are Kuching (196), Seremban (188), Kluang (175) and Johor Bahru (159).

In East Malaysia, there are three red zones. In the lead is Kuching with 196 cases, followed by Tawau (67) and Kota Samarahan (45).

Malaysia’s daily new cases dropped to 109 yesterday — the lowest level since March 24. The country’s tally was at 4,228 cases as of noon yesterday.

There were 121 daily recoveries yesterday, exceeding the new confirmed cases for the third time, lifting the number of recoveries to 1,608 or 38% of the total cases.

The death toll climbed to 67 after two new fatalities were reported yesterday.
