(Oct 22): PKR lawmaker Rafizi Ramli has advised Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) chairman Tan Sri Annuar Musa to act his age in an ongoing verbal volley after the Pandan MP accused the agency of delaying its probe into an alleged property scandal in Australia.

Rafizi said he was not going to stoop to Annuar's level and take cheap shots against the Ketereh MP.

Earlier today, Annuar had slammed Rafizi for making the accusations, saying that the question should have been directed to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), which was in charge of the investigation.

"For example, someone in PKR was charged for being a homosexual. Can I also say that YB Pandan is also guilty of doing the same thing by association?" Annuar said in reference to PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who is currently in jail for sodomy.

In response, Rafizi said Annuar, who is of his father's age, should have behaved more maturely.

"He played this sentiment even during debate in the House, every time he stands up when he wants to debate with me, he will call 'pondan' instead of Pandan," said Rafizi at the Parliament lobby today.

"My stand has always been consistent. Annuar Musa is of my father's age, he is a very old man, akin to my father so he should behave like one.

"So, I am not going to take a cheap shot like that and degrade myself to his standard."

Rafizi had on Tuesday said he would unveil Australian court documents in the purchase of four properties in Melbourne above market rates by Mara soon, adding that he was "surprised” that no action has been taken against any Mara official for the purchase, which allegedly cost the agency RM129 million.

The Mara-Australian property scandal was first revealed in June by Australian media, with the purchase of Dudley International House in Melbourne at an inflated price.

This led to revelation of other properties also bought at inflated prices. – The Malaysian Insider
