KUALA LUMPUR: The Energy Commission (EC) has appointed Abdul Razib Dawood as its new chief executive officer (CEO) effective Aug 1.

In a statement yesterday, the commission said Abdul Razib succeeds Azhar Omar, who retired on April 1.

Abdul Razib was the EC’s head of electricity market operation unit from October 2012 to August 2017, before being appointed CEO of Malaysia Nuclear Power Corp (2017-2018). He was appointed the EC’s chief operating officer on April 9, 2018.

He has 25 years of experience in the energy industry, and has assumed key roles in Tenaga Nasional Bhd, Sime Darby Energy Sdn Bhd, as well as in Australia’s ElectraNet Pty Ltd and Senergy Econnect Australia Pty Ltd.
