KUALA LUMPUR (July 9): Debt laden 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) reiterates its commitment to fully cooperate with the Auditor-General (A-G) and all lawful authorities that are currently investigating the strategic investment fund, which is wholly owned by the Ministry of Finance.

In a statement today, its president and group executive director Arul Kanda said 1MDB has confirmed that all documents in its possession have been submitted to the National Audit Department.

The statement, which is issued this evening, is in response to Public Account Committee (PAC) chairman Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed’s remark that 1MDB has yet to submit several documents to the National Audit Department.

"As the interim report has not yet been shared with 1MDB, we are unable to comment on the PAC chairman's statement that certain documents appear to have not been submitted," he added.

"As requested by the PAC chairman, we will immediately contact the National Audit Department to seek clarity on which documents the chairman is referring to," he said.

In a media briefing earlier today, Nur Jazlan said 1MDB has yet to submit the bank statements and signed agreements to the A-G department.

"The A-G has told us that they are still facing hindrance as some documents have not been submitted," Nur Jazaln said, and urged 1MDB to submit the documents immediately.

PAC is currently probing on 1MDB’s questionable dealings that has led to the whopping RM42 billion debts on the investment fund’s balance sheet in a short span of five years.

Meanwhile, a special government task force assigned police officers to raid 1MDB’s office in Menara IMC in Jalan Sultan Ismail yesterday. The special task force is formed to investigate a money trail of billions of ringgit to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
