KUALA LUMPUR (May 24): 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) today said it has yet to be contacted by any "foreign lawful authority" on matters relating to the company.

The statement was issued in response to media statements issued earlier today by the Singapore and Swiss authorities in relation to probes linked to the strategic investment fund.

"1MDB states that it has not been contacted by any foreign lawful authority on matters relating to the company. 1MDB remains committed to fully cooperating with any foreign lawful authority, subject to advice from the relevant domestic lawful authorities, and in accordance with international protocols governing such matters," it said.

It added its ownership of various fund investments has not been impacted by the announcements.

It was reported earlier today that the Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland (OAG) has opened criminal proceedings against the BSI SA bank. The decision to open proceedings is based on information revealed by the criminal proceedings in the 1MDB case and on issues raised in the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) decision of May 23, 2016.

Meanwhile, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has issued BSI Bank Ltd a notice of intention to withdraw its status as a merchant bank in Singapore for "serious breaches of anti-money laundering requirements, poor management oversight of the bank's operations, and gross misconduct by some of the bank's staff".

BSI Bank's Switzerland-based parent company BSI SA has also announced in a press release on Tuesday that its group chief executive officer Stefano Coduri has tendered his resignation with immediate effect.
