KUALA LUMPUR (March 27): 1Malaysia Development Bhd's (1MDB) lawyer Rosli Dahlan had yesterday issued letters of demand (LODs) to former Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Lokman Noor Adam, Kuang assemblyman Sallehuddin Amiruddin and Mohd Hanizam Yunus for issuing defamatory statements which implied, among others, that Rosli had unlawfully profited from money in connection with the 1MDB asset recovery effort by the Malaysian government.

According to the LODs seen by theedgemarkets.com, Rosli, who is represented by law firm Rosli Dahlan Saravana Partnership, had instructed the firm to demand, among others, that Lokman, Sallehuddin and Mohd Hanizam agree to pay RM10 million compensation each to Rosli.

"In closing, our client (Rosli) reserves all rights,” the firm said in the LODs.

The law firm said it is referring to Mohd Hanizam’s police report dated March 12, 2021, Lokman’s Facebook post dated March 16, 2021 and Sallehuddin’s press statement dated March 18, 2021.

The firm said it has Rosli’s instructions to proceed with legal action against Lokman, Sallehuddin and Mohd Hanizam in the event they fail to comply with demands specified in the LODs by Monday (March 29).

The legal action is intended to seek reliefs including damages and an injunction entitled to Rosli in law, according to the firm.

The demands specified in the LODs include the removal of the defamatory publications and a public apology by Lokman, Sallehuddin and Mohd Hanizam, according to the firm.

On Wednesday (March 24), it was reported that Rosli had lodged a police report earlier this week against Lokman, Sallehuddin and Mohd Hanizam for accusing him of pocketing huge commissions from the settlements in the fraud case involving 1MDB.

It was reported that Rosli lodged the report at the Kota Damansara police station.
