KUALA LUMPUR (May 31): Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sendirian Bhd (Perodua) is reducing the price of its cars by up to RM3,500 as the government rolls out the zero-rated goods and services tax (GST) beginning tomorrow.

“From June 1, Perodua vehicles are, on average, priced 5.6% lower than before,” said Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd managing director Datuk Dr Zahari Husin.

“As the government has announced that the sales and services tax (SST) will return in September, we encourage all Malaysians to capitalise on this three-month tax holiday.

“There has never been a better time to buy a Perodua,” he added.

With the zero-rated GST, Perodua said it will end the GST reimbursement for purchase of its new vehicles or spare parts, as well as services at its centres, which was introduced on May 18.

In addition to zero GST, Perodua will also be offering rebates of up to RM800 for selected models and variants for purchases made in June.

“Please visit any of our authorised sales and service outlets nationwide for more information on our products and services. We thank all Malaysians for their enduring support and wish all Muslims a blessed Ramadan and Selamat Hari Raya in advance!” Zahari added.
