KUALA LUMPUR (April 5):  Tractors Malaysia, the exclusive Caterpillar dealership under Sime Darby Industrial Sdn Bhd (SDISB), along with four of its key customers, have donated RM80,000 to Women’s Aid Organisation (WAO).

The amount was raised through the rental of a Caterpillar 323GX hydraulic excavator in a coordinated effort from Tractors Malaysia and the customers, namely Nestcon Infra Sdn Bhd, Landhon Builders Sdn Bhd, Seri Pajam Development Sdn Bhd and Pembinaan Tetap Teguh Sdn Bhd, according to a statement issued by SDISB, a wholly owned unit of Sime Darby Bhd.

“The funds will aid WAO in its mission to provide support, and shelter to women and children affected by domestic violence and to advocate for women's rights in Malaysia,” said SDISB managing director (Industrial Southeast Asia) Liew Thiam Huat at the handover ceremony on Wednesday.

"The recent International Women's Day celebration serves as a reminder of the work to be done in achieving gender equality in our society, and that SDISB is proud to support organisations like WAO that champion such causes,” said Liew.

Representatives from the four companies who attended the handover ceremony were Nestcon Infra director Dr Lim Jee Gin, Landhon Builders director Yap Kian Hong, Seri Pajam Development director Ten Fui Jean and Pembinaan Tetap Teguh executive director Datin Angie Ng.

Also present at the event were Caterpillar Inc’s sales director Chen Binling and WAO’s partnership director Amnani Abdul Kadir.

Tractors Malaysia, which offers a comprehensive range of heavy equipment products and services in Malaysia, serves customers across a wide range of industries including mining, construction, power systems and marine.

WAO is a non-profit organisation that provides support for domestic violence survivors, aiming to end violence against women as well as to promote gender equality in Malaysia.
