DUBAI (Oct 31): The recently concluded 10th World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) has succeeded in fostering business partnerships, not only between Muslim economies, but among the Non-Muslim economies as well, according to WIEF Foundation chairman Tun Musa Hitam.

He said that the forum, bearing the theme “Innovative Partnerships for Economic Growth”, has lived up to its theme and has promoted cross border and cross industry collaborations through a series of networking sessions.

“The diversity of representation at the forum, in terms of level of businesses and cross  boundary representation, and the acceptability of Non Muslim countries and businesses [towards  Islamic finance] is amazing,” he told reporters after the 10th WIEF had concluded.

He added that the next WIEF to be held next year, will zoom in further on the Waqf, an Islamic endowment , which was a new addition among topics discussed at the forum as well focus on the aspects of Islamic finance, Islamic banking and the Halal industry.

The 10th WIEF was held for the first time in Dubai, United Arab Emirates this year by the WIEF Foundation in collaboration with the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as part of efforts to support the vision of the emirate to become the global capital of Islamic economy.
