A Language of Their Own 

Don’t miss out on watching A Language of Their Own at Damansara Performing Arts Centre (DPAC) this weekend. This restaging of the popular play by Singapore-born playwright Chay Yew touches on love and heartache. The play explores relationships that face the biggest test in conservative societies mainly for the people involved and with the presence of AIDs in the ‘80s it did not improve things. This powerful drama left a strong impact on audiences during its 2013 run. This production stars Alfred Loh, Gregory Sze and Dennis Yeap. The play is on until Sunday, at 8.30pm with an extra show at 3pm on Sunday. Tickets are priced at RM100. DPAC is located at Empire Damansara, Jalan PJU 8/8, Damansara Perdana, Petaling Jaya. Super Kam Ultra 

Prepare to clutch your sides from laughing with the latest Super Kam Ultra. Four years and four shows later, Malaysia’s first all-female comedy showcase is back and fiercer than ever. Featuring a few fantabulous comics, this show features one new addition to the pack. Joanne Kam leads the pack with Shamaine Othman, Bibi K Poh, Sharul Channa, and Hannan Azlan. Watch 35 at The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (klpac) this weekend. The production tells a story of a single man who at 35 lives with depression. He locks himself in a closet willingly without any interruption. Spending most of his time in the dark, his nightmares happen again and he is brought back to face his memories and the real world. Is he able to handle himself and deal with his issues? 35 is presented in Chinese with English subtitles. Crossroads 

Watch Crossroads: Stories Of Migrant Workers, Refugees and Stateless People in Malaysia at the Ilham Gallery this weekend. The video series tells the stories of people who have been chosen or have been forced to leave their homes. This is part of a video advocacy initiative by EngageMedia, a media non-governmental organisation focusing on social and environmental issues in the Asia-Pacific. The project was aimed at strengthening the advocacy and documentation capacity of migrant workers, refugees and stateless persons. Crossroads will be on at 3pm tomorrow. Admission is free. The Night Watchmen 

Head to the cinema to see The Night Watchmen. The film follows three inept night watchmen who are aided by a young rookie and tabloid journalist to fight a battle to save their lives. When a mistaken warehouse delivery unleashes a horde of hungry vampires, these heroes have to stop them from taking over the city of Baltimore. Steven Hough Plays Beethoven 

Catch Stephen Hough Plays Beethoven at the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas (DFP)  this weekend. The British pianist will be performing Beethoven’s Fourth Concerto — a piece that demonstrates heavenly beauty, profound lyricism and strong hint of subtle expression. Brahm’s idyllic, pastoral Second Symphony is also part of the programme and is a combination of graceful melodies, mellow glow and relaxing notes. The performance will be conducted by Mark Wigglesworth. The performance will be on tomorrow at 8.30pm and Sunday at 3pm. Tickets are priced at RM100, RM130, RM160, RM200. Bizhu: Resonance

Be mesmerised by Bihzhu: Resonance at Bobo KL tonight. As part of her debut at Bobo KL, she will be performing an eclectic mix of songs that will take the audience through beauty, truth and love. The performance will feature Nish Tham on the piano, Shakey.Shakey on the bass, Jude Macson Bensing on the guitar and Ryan Lee Bhaskaran on percussion. There will be a cover charge of RM50. Tomorrow, she will be joined by Alex Terry who is known for his rich blues voice and harmonica giving audiences a night of Australian nostalgia with contemporary hits over the last 60 years.
