Sadhana — The Grace through Odissi

If you’re in the mood to fill your art and cultural needs, catch dancer Dhanya Thurairajah perform an Odissi repertoire at 8pm today and tomorrow. She is an established Bharatanatyam, Odissi, contemporary and Kathak dancer and teacher at the Temple of Fine Arts, and is staging an Odissi solo for the first time. Guru Smriti

While dance may not be for everyone, music is somewhat an universal lingo. The Temple of Fine Arts is honouring the artistic legacy of tabla virtuoso Ustad Mohammed Hanif Khan Mirajkar with Guru Smriti, a two-day musical extravaganza that culminates in tabla duet by the legendary father-and-son duo, Ustad Rashid Mustafa Thirakwa and Shariq Mustafa Thirakwa. Their performance will be accompanied by Sangeet Mishraji on the sarangi and Kumar Karthigesu on the sitar. Deepakalanjali

One of Kuala Lumpur’s best art-bazaar mini festivals is back, and this time around, it is collaborating with Sisters in Islam.  Arts for Grabs:Family Squad! aims to promote local independent makers and sellers, so you can browse through 90 booths peddling a wide range of art, handmade goodies, books, food and beverages. The event is a two-day affair that starts at noon tomorrow at The School, 72, Jalan Universiti, Jaya One, Petaling Jaya. Entry is free, but make sure you buy something you like to support the cause. Carnival of the Animals

Head over to Dewan Filharmonik Petronas (DFP) this weekend to catch Carnival of the Animals, a full programme dedicated to the animal kingdom. The featured work of the performance is none other than Saint-Saëns’ Carnival of the Animals, which is conducted by Graham Ross. Creatures on land and at sea will be brought to life through music — it’s perfect for the entire family. Show time is at 3pm tomorrow and 2.30pm and 4.30pm on Sunday at the DFP, Tower Two, Petronas Twin Towers, KLCC. Fidelio Trio

Be serenaded by an international trio piano as No Black Tie presents Fidelio Trio. The trio consist of Darragh Morgan (violin), Adi Tal (cello) and Mary Dullea (piano). They were shortlisted for the 2016 Royal Philharmonic Society Music Awards and have worked with a range of composers like Toshio Hosokawa, Charles Wuorinen, Johannes Maria Staud, Michael Nyman and Donnacha Dennehy, to name a few.
