KUALA LUMPUR: National electricity company Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) is extending the service of its non-independent non-executive chairman Tan Sri Leo Moggie, 75, for two years.

The extension will take effect from March 12 this year until March 11, 2019, TNB said in a bourse filing yesterday.

A former politician and minister, Moggie was first appointed to the post on April 12, 2004. He has held the position for nearly 13 years.

According to TNB’s website, Moggie has held several senior ministerial positions since 1976 at both the federal and state levels. The last ministerial position he held was that of the energy, communications and multimedia minister from 1998 to 2004.

Moggie holds a Master of Arts in History from the University of Otago, New Zealand, and a Master of Business Administration from the Pennsylvania State University, USA.

In a separate announcement, TNB also announced the appointment of Noraini Che Dan, who is currently the company’s independent non-executive director, to the company’s audit committee.
