KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 23): REV Asia Bhd is buying three Malay content websites — Siraplimau, Myresipi and Kongsiresepi — and their respective domains www.siraplimau.com, www.myresipi.com and www.kongsiresepi.com for RM2.65 million.

In a statement today, REV Asia said its 70%-owned subsidiary Rev Lifestyle Sdn Bhd has entered into a conditional sale and purchase agreement with Dua Marhalah Sdn Bhd for the proposed acquisition, which is expected to be completed by this month.

"The proposed acquisition will further strenghten REV Asia Group’s dominant position in the emerging Malay speaking online community, with the ability to further expand its reach to users in the family lifestyle, parenting and food verticals," it added.

Siraplimau is a lifestyle portal where visitors can share their daily musings and ramblings, relevant to their lifestyle. The site’s key content pillars includes Family, Pregnancy, Parenting, Beauty & Health and Lifestyle.

Myresipi and Kongsiresepi, meanwhile, are portals for members to share their passion for food and cooking; indirectly promoting family bonding through cooking at home.

REV Asia said both Myresipi and Kongsiresepi are driven by user generated content, where users and bloggers submit their recipes which get aggregated onto the websites.

With the addition of these two websites to the food channel in SAYS Siesmik, REV Asia said it plans to expand and develop its food and recipe content to cater to the rapidly growing food community in Malaysia.

According to Internet analytics provider Comscore, Dua Marhalah’s network of websites are consistently placed in the Top 10 Malay websites visited by Malaysian Internet users.

Google Analytics also reported a total of 5.6 million pageviews and 1.7 million unique visitors across Siraplimau.com, Myresipi.com and Kongsiresepi.com in November 2016, said REV Asia.

REV Asia general manager Voon Tze Khay said the acquisition of the three websites will add to the group's growing audience, putting it in a strategic position to widen its distribution channel to better serve its advertisers and customers, and deliver growth rates that correspond to the size of Malaysia’s growing revenue in sponsored content.

"As the content marketing pioneer in Malaysia, we are very excited with this new prospects, which will enable us to cement our position as the No 1 digital media group in Malaysia.

"In addition to the sponsored content, we will also be extending our small and medium enterprise (SME) content offerings to these three websites, he added.

REV Asia shares closed up 0.5 sen or 0.99% at 51 sen, bringing a market capitalisation of RM68.67 million.
