(Aug 3): As the debate rages on over the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal, Datuk Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah has urged everyone to wait until investigations into the debt laden state investment are concluded.

Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah said it was unfortunate that the public assumed there was corruption and wrongdoings as a result of wrong perceptions about the company.

"Don't make any more noise, wait for the reports from the auditor-general, the Parliament's Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and the 1MDB investigative committee," he was quoted as saying by Utusan Malaysia today.

"The prime minister himself has given a commitment and has pledged that if there is any wrongdoing, action will be taken and we can believe it.

"Nothing can be achieved if allegations are made. Perception is such that it is seen as if the claims were true when under the law, someone should not be deemed guilty until proven otherwise."

Husni expressed confidence in the prime minister's pledge to resolve the 1MDB issue within six months.

1MDB, the Finance Ministry-owned investment vehicle, was established in 2009, but has been embroiled in controversy following a series of revelations about suspicious transactions and alleged mismanagement.

The auditor-general submitted a preliminary report on the company's finances to PAC on July 10, and a full report is due by the end of the year.

A special task force comprising the police, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, Bank Negara and the Attorney-General Chambers is also investigating the company's operations. – The Malaysian Insider
