KUALA LUMPUR: Another landmark appears in Jalan Sultan Ismail with the opening of Quill City Mall by Quill Group of Companies.

Officially launched on Sunday, the ceremony was officiated by Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz.

Mohamed Nazri expressed his support by saying that “our shopping sector still holds the second-biggest share of tourist expenditure, making it a lucrative sector for our tourism industry.”

He said as of last year, shopping expenditure constituted 30.2% of total tourist expenditure.

The mall, dubbed the latest icon in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s (KL) Golden Triangle, spans 770,000 sq ft of net retail space and will serve as a convenient hub for those living and working in the area, said group executive director Datuk Michael Ong.

“Quill City Mall is part of a mixed development by Quill. It will include a 36-storey residential building and a hotel with serviced apartments. With these integrated components, the Quill City development is poised to become the ‘next big thing’ in the heart of KL,” he said.

Ong added that he is “pleased to note that Quill City Mall has achieved more than 75% occupancy based on the net lettable area”.

The mall will have Aeon as its anchor tenant. This will be Aeon’s first premier departmental store in the city centre.

Apart from that, other tenants in the mall are Golden Screen Cinemas, London toy store Hamleys, Next Fashion, Guess, Red Lobster, Food Junction, Celebrity Fitness gym, Marche and Hennes & Mauritz (H&M). H&M will be featuring its home division.

The mall is easily accessible with direct links to the Medan Tuanku monorail station and the elevated walkway to the Sultan Ismail light rail transit station.
