KUALA LUMPUR: The home ministry has appointed MyEG Services Bhd (MyEG) to manage the rehiring of illegal foreign workers programme. In a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday, MyEG said it received a letter of appointment from the home ministry in relation to the “management of illegal foreign workers for the rehiring programme”.

The company said the letter of appointment will supersede its earlier appointment to register illegal workers announced on Sept 4 last year, with new conditions to replace previous terms.

MyEG said the project will take effect from Monday to Aug 15, 2016, and is expected to contribute positively to the company’s earnings for the financial years ending June 30, 2016 and June 30, 2017.

However, MyEG did not reveal what were the new terms and conditions of its appointment. Further, it said the management of the rehiring programme had no fixed value, as it is dependent on the number of illegal foreign workers successfully registered.

MyEG announced in September last year that it was hired to register illegal workers in the country, saying it was expected to increase the total number of legal foreign workers in the country, hence increasing the fees generated from the online renewal of foreign worker permits.

This is the second job that MyEG has bagged so far this month.

Last week, the company announced it was granted a courier service licence by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission on Feb 3.  The licence is  expected to contribute positively to the future earnings and net assets of MyEG and its subsidiaries.
