KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia Property Expo Klang Valley 2015 (Mapex-Klang Valley 2015) here, the first of three series, received encouraging response, with over 50,000 visitors visiting the three-day event which ended on Sunday.

“I am quite satisfied with the turnout. Initially, I was expecting a lower turnout due to the [implementation of the] goods and services tax (GST) starting this month and the event coincided with the Qing Ming festival,” Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association (Rehda) past president and chairman of the Mapex committee, Datuk Ng Seing Liong, told The Edge Financial Daily.

At press time, Rehda was still tabulating the number of visitors and total sales made.

The Mapex saw 82 property developers, five financial institutions, three government agencies and one international property agent participating. Among the developers were S P Setia Bhd, Eco World Development Group Bhd, IJM Land Bhd, UEM Sunrise Bhd and I&P Group Sdn Bhd.

There were five speakers who touched on property-related topics. The speakers included Ng (who shared on GST’s impact on domestic properties), REI Properties Sdn Bhd chief executive officer (CEO) Daniele Gambero (property investment tips), GreenRE Sdn Bhd executive director James Chua (build more eco-friendly homes), MRP Advisory Services Sdn Bhd CEO Franciss Chin (saving money through mortgage management) and Gamuda Land Sdn Bhd landscape architect Khariza Abdul Khalid (landscaping tips to increase property resale value).

The next Mapex will take place at Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre (July 31-Aug 2) and Mid-Valley Mega Mall (Oct 30-Nov 1).
