KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 30): The Malaysian producer price index (PPI) increased 2.2% year-on-year in November 2016 as prices in agriculture, forestry and fishing saw the largest jump.
"The highest increase was recorded (in the) agriculture, forestry and fishing index at 26.7%," the Department of Statistics said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, electricity and gas recorded a 3% increase while manufacturing registered a 0.6% increase.
By stages of processing, the PPI for local production saw an uptick of 1.1% largely due to the increase in the indices for intermediate materials, supplies and components at 2%.
In comparison, the PPI was up just 0.1% year-on-year in October.
Month-on-month, November saw a 1.1% incline due to the agriculture, forestry and fishing sector, which rose 6%, as well as the manufacturing sector (up 1.1%).
