KUALA LUMPUR (July 29): The FBM KLCI vacillated between gains and losses as investors waited for the Bank of Japan's monetary-policy decision today. The decision is expected to influence Japanese share and currency trades, which could have an impact on world markets.

The Bank of Japan will announce its monetary policy following the conclusion of a two-day meeting today. At Bursa Malaysia, the KLCI rose 0.65 point to 1,659.15 at 9:07am after opening 0.27 point lower at 1,658.23.

TA Securities Holdings Bhd wrote in a note today : "Stocks are likely to stay range bound pending fresh external leads as investors eagerly await details of stimulus expansion from the Bank of Japan later today."

Across Bursa Malaysia, there were 108 gainers and 73 decliners. About 118 million shares worth RM48 million shares changed hands.

Top gainer was Nestle (M) Bhd while leading decliner was Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd.

The most-active stocks included Sanichi Technology Bhd and TH Heavy Engineering Bhd.
