KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 26): The FBM KLCI dipped 3.16 points or 0.2%, echoing Asian share performance after US equities' lower overnight close.

At 12:30pm, the KLCI settled at 1,674.27 points. Across Asian markets, Hong Kong's Hang Seng lost 0.66% while South Korea's Kospi dropped 1.61%.

US shares fell overnight. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 0.3%, S&P 500 fell 0.38% while Nasdaq Composite was 0.5% lower.

Today, Reuters reported that Asian shares on Wednesday followed in the footsteps of Wall Street, which pulled back overnight on disappointing earnings, while the dollar inched down from a seven-month high and oil prices extended this week's losses.

In Malaysia, an analyst with a local bank, who requested anonymity, told theedgemarkets.com that the KLCI is struggling to break the 1,680–1,690-point level.

"I think it would be a sideway trend until either 1,690 or 1,645 levels are violated," the analyst said.

Across Bursa Malaysia, 704.72 million shares worth RM708.71 million were traded.

There were 419 decliners against 234 gainers.
