<div class=newsTextDataWrapInner>KUALA LUMPUR: Ire-tex Corp Bhd (Ire-Tex) said its unit Ire-Tex Packaging Sdn Bhd has been granted the Feed-in Tariff (FiT) approval by the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA), and that it will be venturing into the solar energy segment. 
&nbsp; 
In a press release filed to Bursa Malaysia today, Ire -Tex said it will be able to develop and operate solar photovoltaics (solar PV) with 1MW power capacity to produce electricity to supply to distribution licensee in Malaysia under the new venture.</div>

<div class=newsTextDataWrapInner>According to Ire-Tex, a 1MW power grid of photovoltaic system will be installed at the rooftop of the company's factory at Kulim, Kedah. 
&nbsp; 
"Upon the completion of the installation of the solar PV grid, Ire-Tex would enter into agreement with Distribution Licensee in Malaysia, in particular Tenaga Nasional Bhd, for the supply of electricity generated from solar PV for a FiT concession period of 21 years. 
&nbsp; 
“The new business segment will be able to being a stable recurring income stream to the group,” said Ire-Tex, which is principally engaged in the manufacturing of packaging products.

Ire-Tex shares closed 2 sen or 5.88% higher at 27 sen today, for a market capitalisation of RM35.98 million.</div>
