GENTING HIGHLANDS: The Year of the Rooster will dawn with a tantalising array of food offerings at Resorts World Genting in January and February.

A signature pastry at the resort every Chinese New Year is its pineapple tart. Pineapples are favoured for their connotation of good luck, as the Hokkein name of the fruit, “ong lai”, translates to “good fortune coming”, Resorts World Genting said in a statement. The tarts are available at its kiosks until Feb 11.

Another iconic Chinese New Year dish, yee sang, is also available at outlets throughout Resorts World Genting until Feb 11 for both dine-in and takeaway. The yee sang offerings range from freshwater fish, deep-sea fish and caviar to abalone and lobster.

Buffets are available at the Coffee Terrace, Food Factory and Rajawali Coffee House, Lobby Floor, Awana Genting with a mix of live action stalls, hot and cold food stations, dedicated dessert counters with festive treats such as Fatt Choy Yee Sang, steamed “nien ko” with peanuts and coconut, mandarin oranges and Chinese New Year treats.

For a traditional sit-down dinner, Genting Palace, Seasons, LTITUDE Restaurant, Bar & Lounge, Ming Ren, Imperial Rama, Good Friends Restaurant, e18hteen Inspired Dining, Resort Seafood and Rajawali Coffee House at Awana Genting will offer set menus for four, six or 10 pax. The menus feature dishes such as a variety of steamed fish, succulent roasts, and tender meats, as well as a number of culinary surprises, the statement said.
