KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 2): The management of Firefly Sdn Bhd, the wholly owned subsidiary of Malaysian Airline System Bhd (MAS) that operates out of the Penang and Subang hubs, is considering every possible way to deliver customers' expectations whilst ensuring the company's best interest and profitability.

"We hope with initiative as such, we will further meet our business objective and simultaneously enhance the visibility of Firefly's exceptional services and connectivity within Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore," Firefly's chief executive officer Ignatius Ong said in a statement today.

In welcoming 2015, the turboprop operating arm launched a New Year promotion inviting travelers to fly domestically at an all-inclusive price of RM50, one-way.

"We are embracing the New Year spirit by offering Malaysians and tourists travelling within the country flight options for their warm weather escapes with various new services that we currently offer.

"We strive to make travel within Peninsular Malaysia or neighbouring countries such as Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia a convenient and trouble-free experience", he added. Its New Year promotion called "Now That's What I Call Flying" will be up for sale starting from between Jan 5 and 18, and available for travel from Jan 19 onwards.

International travellers are not forgotten, Firefly said, as tickets for Firefly's international destinations are being offered on a promotional price from RM105 for destinations such as Singapore, Krabi, Phuket and Koh Samui.

The full-service and cost efficient short-haul premium airline offers a consistent product on every flight - with complimentary baggage allowance, free refreshments, and automated online check-in service available for every guest on every flight, it added.

In addition to offering these services, Firefly said it operates with ATR 72-500 and ATR 72-600, pointing out that these ATR aircraft are unrivalled in terms of passenger comfort and environmental friendliness, and as a result will further improve guest experience.

Firefly customers can also shop at LOGO - Penang's International Fashion Brand Concept store - with an additional 8% discount when presenting their Firefly boarding pass during purchase at LOGO in Gurney Paragon Mall, Penang, it said, adding that this promotion will be valid from Jan 8 until Feb 28.

It also anticipates a much higher passenger traffic going through all the airports it flies from starting this November and urges its passengers travelling during this time to use the "Automated Online Check-in Service" that's available for Singapore and all Firefly domestic routes.

It noted that the automated check-in service will allow passengers to skip the queue at the physical check-in counters and breeze through the airport.
