KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 15): Dagang NeXchange Bhd (DNeX)'s indirect subsidiary MyCall Gateway Sdn Bhd has been appointed as the service provider for the eWork Permit System.

In a statement today, DNeX said the appointment was made by Bukti Megah Sdn Bhd, which operates the one-stop centre for recruitment and management of foreign workers under the purview of the home ministry.

The contract will see DNeX providing consultancy, advice and services as the technology partner and solution provider for the eWork Permit System for the rehiring programme of illegal foreign workers undertaken by Bukti Megah.

The programme involves foreign workers without permits from 15 countries, namely Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.

The contract, effective today, will be automatically renewed on a yearly basis unless it is terminated.

Bukti Megah will pay a service fee of RM30, subject to 6% goods and services tax, to DNeX for each transaction of the eWork Permit.

DNeX executive deputy chairman Datuk Samsul Husin said the group has extended its capabilities to serve specific requirements of customers comprising authorities, agencies and companies.

"The eWork Permit System is one such service… we offer our deepest appreciation to our partner Bukti Megah for the opportunity to provide the [service]," he said.

This web-based system, accessible at http://eworkpermit.dagangnet.com, allows data submission to the Immigration Department or any other relevant authority that manages foreign workers.

Through its rehiring module, the system gives users — which can include both employers and appointed agencies — access to notification of approval on their application from the authority.

The deportation process system, meanwhile, enables user-submission of workers who are being deported.

"Also readily available are online reports and real-time information to users thus providing convenience, and faster and improved processing," said DNeX.

At present, MyCall Gateway is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dagang Net Technologies Sdn Bhd, which in turn is wholly owned by DNeX.

However, the group has said it is the in process of transferring 49% of Dagang Net's equity interest in MyCall Gateway to a strategic business partner after which Dagang Net will be left with a controlling stake of 51%.

DNeX shares ended the day down 0.5 sen (1.7%) at 28.5 sen, for a market capitalisation of RM494.44 million.
