KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 13): AWC Bhd's 51%-owned environment division has bagged three independent subcontracts, including the implementation of solid waste handling system works for the KL118 project, for a collective value of RM27.5 million.

According to its bourse filing today, the first contract is in Taiwan, awarded by Evergreen Sky Catering Corp.

The contract is for the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of a waste handling system for a new inflight catering facility at Taoyuan International Airport, Taiwan.

"The subcontract, worth approximately RM7.8 million, is expected to be completed by March 2018," it said.

The second subcontract is for the design and supply of Automated Vacuum Waste Collection System in India for a contract sum of approximately RM9.5 million. The job was awarded to AWC by Shapoorji Pallonji and Co Pte Ltd.

Under the contract, AWC is required to install the Automated Vacuum Waste Collection System in the Integrated Industrial Township of Greater Noida Ltd under the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor.

This project is expected to be completed by October 2018, AWC said.

AWC is an integrated facility management, and mechanical and engineering services provider.

The third contract is for the implementation of a solid waste handling system for the KL118 Tower Project, worth RM10.2 million.

The contract is awarded by Samsung C&T Corporation UEM Construction JV Sdn Bhd. It is set to start in March 2017 and is expected to be completed by October 2019.

The KL118 Tower Project is a mixed development project comprising offices, a hotel and commercial space. Upon completion, the 118-storey development is expected to be the tallest building in Malaysia standing at over 600 meters high.

This subcontract award is the second subcontract awarded to AWC for the KL118 development. In January this year, AWC's subsidiary Qudotech Sdn Bhd was awarded a subcontract for plumbing works for KL118.

Commenting on this, AWC managing director and group chief executive officer Datuk Ahmad Kabeer said year to date, the company has managed to secure in excess of RM1 billion of work.

"These subcontract awards are testament to AWC's commitment to delivering quality and innovative work," he added.

"AWC is honoured to be awarded a second subcontract package for the KL118 development. We are also proud to secure the project in Taiwan as this is the third of such projects in addition to the Cathay Pacific Inflight Catering Facility in Hong Kong, as well as the inflight catering facility in Changi Airport, Singapore," he said in a separate statement.

"Our footprint in the international arena has now expanded to Taiwan and India as part of our objective to be a formidable international player," he shared.

Shares in AWC closed up 1.5 sen or 1.82% at 84 sen, for a market value of RM217.54 million.
