KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 9): Mass Rapid Transit Corp Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) awarded the RM152.9 million automatic fare collection (AFC) contract for the Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya line to the Indra Sistemas S.A. and Rasma Corp Sdn Bhd consortium.

In a statement today, MRT Corp said Spain-based Indra Sistemas was a consulting and technology company, while Rasma was a Malaysian entity. Indra Sistemas and Rasma own 80% and 20% stakes in the consortium, respectively.

MRT Corp said: "The decision to award work package SSP-SY-207 for the engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning of the AFC to the consortium was made, following a one-stop procurement committee (OSPC) meeting chaired by Finance Minister II Datuk Johari Abdul Ghani.

"The system will also be integrated with the integrated cashless payment system for the Klang Valley’s public transport system," MRT Corp said.

MRT Corp chief executive officer Datuk Seri Shahril Mokhtar said in the statement that the Indra Sistemas-Rasma consortium was among five consortiums that participated in the tender.

Shahril said MRT Corp evaluated the bidders based on their technical and commercial scores. In view of this, the winner may not necessarily be the one which offered the lowest price.

“However, I am pleased to say that for this tender, the successful tenderer also quoted the lowest price,” he said.
