KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 29): Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir, daughter of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, will join the Bersih 4 rallies in London today.

Marina, who was at the Bersih rallies in 2011 and 2012 in Kuala Lumpur, said this was because she had planned her London visit long before the rally date was announced.

"I'm afraid I can't be there with you this time. I had booked to come to London a long time ago and cannot change my plans. But I will be joining the march in London with BersihUK and will post photos of it," she wrote on her Facebook page.

She described the rally which will start this afternoon London time as a "big day" for all Malaysians, saying she believed there will be a lot of first timers.

"In some cases, these newbies are really establishment people who I never thought would ever go on a demo. But that's the level of anger and dissatisfaction," she added.

She was confident Bersih 4 will be "humongous" in size.

"Hope good sense prevails on the part of the authorities and they let you all just be. Do be safe, do take care and most of all, enjoy the atmosphere. I shall miss you all," she added.

Marina has been a fierce critic of the government in recent years.
