KUALA LUMPUR (June 30): The Four Seasons Hotel and Hotel Residences Kyoto in Japan, also known as the Four Seasons Kyoto, is scheduled to have its soft opening in mid-October 2016, followed by a grand opening targeted in December 2016, said Berjaya Corp Bhd (BCorp) in a statement today.

BCorp said the Four Seasons Kyoto was officially handed over to Kyoto Higashiyama Hospitality Assets TMK, today, by its main contractor Taisei Corp of Japan.

Kyoto Higashiyama is the subsidiary of Berjaya Kyoto Development (S) Pte Ltd, a 50:50 joint venture company between Berjaya Corp Bhd and Berjaya Land Bhd.

The total investment cost of the Four Seasons Kyoto was approximately US$380 million, inclusive of land cost, said BCorp. The hotel will be managed by Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.

“We expect Four Seasons Kyoto to perform very well in the future, with the expected high tourist and business arrivals into Japan.

"Foreign tourist arrivals to Japan has been experiencing double digit growth and have reached record highs in the past few years and this augurs well for our hotel, as we expect this trend to continue into the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo,” said Tan Sri Vincent Tan in the same statement.
