SELANGOR (Sept 1): Housing and Local Government Minister (KPKT) Zuraida Kamaruddin has described the Eco Majestic township in Semenyih as the “best she has visited so far” as a minister.

Zuraida today went on a three-hour tour and presentation of Eco Majestic accompanied by Eco World Development Group Bhd (EcoWorld) chairman Tan Sri Liew Kee Sin, EcoWorld president and chief executive officer Datuk Chang Khim Wah, Majlis Perbandaran Kajang deputy president Tuan Haji Najmuddin Jemain, state assemblyman for Semnyih Bakhtiar Mohd Nor and members of the media.

Also present at the event was the KPKT National Housing Department director-general N Jayaseelan.

She commended EcoWorld for its design, planning, attention to detail, quality as well as sustainability of the 1,089-acre township which has a GDV of RM11 billion.

Eco Majestic was launched four years ago and 633 acres have been developed so far. A total of 4,674 homes have been launched there, with 4,290 units being sold. Up to 2,115 units have been handed over.

Zuraida was particularly impressed by the nearing-completion Rumah Selangorku Simfomi Apartments in the township.

The development comprises three blocks of 11-storey towers with a total of 870 freehold units.

Priced at RM100,000 each, the units are sized at a comfortable 750 sq ft with three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Facilities include surau, function hall, multipurpose court (badminton/basketball), outdoor gym, 1,050 car park bays and a BBQ plot.

Zuraida said there was a need to stress the importance of proper maintenance of real estate, in particular that of low cost units.

“We do not wish for this nice project, and others, to end up as slums,” she told EdgeProp.my at the event.

Towards this end, Zuraida said the government was already looking into potential solutions.

EdgeProp.my has reported on the persistent problem of poor service charge collection from residents of many developments.

EcoWorld is one of the winners of EdgeProp Malaysia's Best Managed Property Awards 2018.
