KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 31): Former Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) governor Tan Sri Zeti Akhtar Aziz (pictured) said she has no knowledge of the RM2 billion land purchase as it did not take place during her tenure.

"I know nothing about it at all and I’ve left the bank for up to three years now. It's not during my time," she told reporters on the sidelines of Sime Darby Property Bhd’s annual general meeting earlier. She is chairman of Sime Darby Property.

“Furthermore to give the bank space after I left, I was hardly in touch with the bank at all, I hardly saw anyone from the bank and I’ve moved on with my own life,” she added.

Earlier this morning, a local daily reported that four BNM officials have been told to go on leave, pending investigations into the central bank's land acquisition in January.

In a statement later, Bank Negara clarified that the relevant officers had opted to take a leave of absence to facilitate the review.

BNM said it had in August commissioned a review by an independent party in relation to the purchase of the land.
