KUALA LUMPUR (May 22): Trading in Wing Tai Malaysia Bhd’s securities will be suspended tomorrow (May 23), pending release of a material announcement.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Wing Tai said it had requested the suspension for the entire day.

The group has two main businesses, namely property development and fashion retail. Its property developments are mainly in Kuala Lumpur and Penang, while its fashion business has a portfolio of 12 international fashion brands viz. Topshop, Topman, Dorothy Perkins, Miss Selfridge, Warehouse, Karen Millen, Pumpkin Patch, Wallis, BCBG, Ben Sherman, Burton and Furla.

As at June 30 last year, the group has 85 retail outlets in major cities across Malaysia.

Meanwhile, the group also owns 45% stake in a joint venture (JV) with Japan’s Fast Retailing Co Ltd. The JV operates Uniqlo outlets in Malaysia.

Wing Tai’s share price gained one sen or 0.85% to close at RM1.18 today, giving it a market capitalisation of RM560.87 million. Year-to-date, the counter has risen 20.4%, from 98 sen on Jan 3 this year.
