KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 5): Computer integrated systems design company Willowglen MSC Bhd today secured a RM139.36 million contract in relation to the Gemas-Johor Bahru electrified double-track project.

Willowglen said its wholly-owned subsidiary, Willowglen (M) Sdn Bhd, was awarded the contract by Syarikat Pembenaan Yeoh Tiong Lay Sdn Bhd for the construction and maintenance of the communication systems for the electrified railway project.

The work is expected to be completed by April 2021, the group said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia.

"The contract is expected to contribute positively to the group’s earnings and net assets per share for the financial years ending December 31, 2018 to 2021," Willowglen added.

The Gemas-Johor Bahru project worth RM8.9 billion is being undertaken by a Chinese consortium comprising China Railway Construction Corp, China Railway Engineering Corp and China Communication Construction Consortium Sdn Bhd.

The project involves 197km of double tracks, stations, electric trains, depots, land viaduct, bridges, electrification and signalling systems.

The project is scheduled to be completed in October 2021.

At market close today, shares of Willowglen were up 3 sen or 5.61% to 56.5 sen for a market capitalisation of RM274.96 million.
