Tiffin Throwdown: Battle of the Poke Bowls

Urbanscapes brings you the hottest food trend in town this weekend with the Battle of the Poke Bowls. They have teamed up with some of the most popular poke bowl vendors in town where attendees get to judge which poke bowl is the best. The competition is from noon to 3pm, with everyone getting to enjoy their favourites after that. The poke bowl vendors taking part include Fin, Kurin, Paperfish, Sushi + Rotary Sushi Bar, The Bowls and The Fish Bowl. Tickets are RM65 for eight taster-sized portions. Discover creative local talents and entrepreneurs at Bookit. Creative Mornings KL 1st Birthday

Meet Kuala Lumpur’s coolest artists and creative souls with this monthly breakfast and lecture series. Since launching in May 2016, Creative Mornings KL has featured some of the brightest sparks in the innovation scene including word pioneer Melizarani T Selva and Borneo muse Alena Murang. This session celebrates the creativity that lies in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. The event takes place tomorrow from 10am to noon. Science fiction meets black comedy with Anne Hathaway’s latest film. The film follows Hathaway’s character Gloria — an out-of-work party girl who drinks too hard and parties too much. Drama ensues after a night out drinking with Oscar — a gigantic monster rampaging through Seoul may just be connected to Gloria. The film also stars Dan Stevens and Jason Sudeikis. Atilia Haron

Catch accomplished singer-songwriter Atilia Haron performing at Alexis Bistro this weekend. She grew up listening to a host of singers, which probably contributed to her music that reverberates with a soulful and contemplative edge. The multi-talented songstress — who is also an actress, a certified yoga instructor and an entrepreneur — is currently working on her third album, riding on the success of her two previous albums, Sangkar and Indah. Saya Sayang Paris!

This performance commemorates the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and France this year. The show will feature singer and francophone Najwa Halim performing with 50 young Malaysian musicians of Sekolah Dato Abdul Razak Wind Orchestra and 20 French students of the Lycée Francais de Kuala Lumpur children’s choir. They will be presenting a catalogue of songs from Edith Paif’s Sous le ciel de Paris to Sheila Majid’s greatest hits. Saya Sayang Paris! is part of the French Festival which is held every year. A Tribute to Motown

Contemporary dance company Balletbase offers a peek into its classical training with a divertissement of the fairies from Cinderella and a variation from Le Corsaire, just to demonstrate its versatility. The bulk of its repertoire still revolves around modern ballet. The hour-long show will feature choreography Lee Yupin, Tan I-yyn, Joelle Jacinto, Eli Jacinto and Fauzi Amirudin.
