Intim Sessions

Catch up-and-coming musicians play and sing their hearts out in Intim Sessions at KLPac this weekend. This inaugural show will feature Dani and Maha Jeffery of The Maha Jeffery Band. Influenced by Amy Winehouse and Nina Simone, Dani is an aspiring jazz and blues singer with a unique voice and will be performing a mixture of covers and her original works. Maha Jeffery, who is a fixture in the Kuala Lumpur rock scene, will bring a more laid-back and acoustic approach to his performance in comparison with his works with his band. Sessions will start at 9pm tomorrow. There is a minimum donation of RM15 per person. KLPac is located in Jalan Strachan, off Jalan Ipoh, Sentul, Kuala Lumpur. Mahler’s Titan

Experience classical music at its finest with Mahler’s Titan at Dewan Filharmonik Petronas (DFP) this weekend. Conducted by Guillaume Tourniaire, this concert will feature internationally acclaimed baritone Matthias Goerne who will be singing Mahler’s songs from Des Knaben Wunderhorn (The Youth’s Magic Horn). The concert will end with Mahler’s Symphony No 1 Titan which is a combination of the mystical, earthy and transcendent. The concert will be on tomorrow and on Sunday at 8.30pm and 3pm. Ushera

Don’t miss out on catching Ushera @ New Orleans Jazz at Alexis Bistro tonight. Known for her crisp, airy vocals and sultry stage presence, the versatile Ushera will be bringing you your favourite jazz tunes from the birthplace of jazz. Groove to tunes such as Hip Shakin Mama, When It’s Sleepy Time Down South and Sweet Georgia Brown and many more. Ushera will be performing tonight and tomorrow at 10pm. Head to the cinema this weekend to catch Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Set 70 years before the Harry Potter series, wizard Newt Scamander’s tales are brought to life with this film. The film follows New York’s secret community of witches and wizards and his discovery of magical creatures.
