KOTA KINABALU (April 27): The opposition Parti Warisan Sabah announced today it will contest 16 parliamentary and 45 state seats in Sabah in the 14th general election, with president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal defending the Semporna parliamentary seat and contesting the Senallang state seat as well.

Sabah has 25 parliamentary and 60 state seats.

Mohd Shafie, in announcing the names of the candidates, said Warisan deputy president Darell Leiking would defend the Penampang parliamentary seat that he won on a PKR ticket in the last general election, in 2013.

He said Warisan would also contest the Labuan parliamentary seat of the federal territories where it would field Noor Halim Zaini, son of Datuk Zaini Mat Isa, who was the assemblyman for Labuan before it became a federal territory.

Mohd Shafie said Warisan would field eight women candidates in GE14, two in parliamentary seats and six in state seats.
