KUALA LUMPUR: The Public Accounts Committee has recommended a probe into three letters issued by former Transport Minister Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy over Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) since they were issued without Ministry of Finance consent.

The PAC report, tabled in Parliament on Wednesday, Oct 4, said that the Attorney-General had stated the three supporting lettes issued by Chan and PKA former general manager Datin Paduka OC Phang, which was "implict" and government guaranteed, placed the responsibility on the government to ensure allocation for the PFKZ development.

The report said the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the police must investigate as the letters were issued without the Ministry of Finance (MoF) approval.

"It could also be viewed as criminal breach of trust under Section 409 of the Penal Code read togther with the 409B of the Penal Code," it said.
