KUALA LUMPUR (July 11): Paper and printing machine seller UPA Corp Bhd said the government, via the Federal Territory Lands and Mines Office, has notified the firm that it would be awarded RM32.67 million, for the compulsory acquisition of three plots of land it owns.

“The company will make further announcement as and when there are material developments in due course,” UPA Corp said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.

UPA Corp said the compensation notice was the result of claims it had submitted to the government in relation to the acquisition, in accordance with the Land Acquisition Act 1960.

Last August, UPA Corp announced the government would be compulsorily acquiring its land plots here — measuring a total of 4,187.69 sq m — which currently houses its factory building, passageway and a power substation.

The compulsory acquisition, it added, will pave the way for the government to construct the second mass rapid transit line, which will be traversing from Sungai Buloh to Putrajaya via Serdang.

Shares of the Main Market-listed UPA closed one sen or 0.42% lower at RM2.40 today, valuing it at RM191 million.
