KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 15): Unisem (M) Bhd shares rose as much as 12 sen or 4% to RM3.23 after its chairman and group managing director John Chia Sin Tet raised his stake in the semiconductor manufacturer.

At 2:47pm, Unisem was the 10th-largest gainer on Bursa Malaysia with 541,300 shares traded.

Today, Unisem told Bursa Malaysia that Chia acquired 32,600 Unisem shares on the open market via Jayvest Holdings Sdn Bhd on Friday (Jan 12).

After the latest trade, Chia owns a total of 176.62 million shares representing about 24% stake in Unisem, according to Unisem. Chia's stake comprises direct and indirect portions of 67.95 million and 108.67 million shares respectively, it said.
